The Importance of Family Dinners | Ft. Canadel Dining Tables
There are exactly 66 days until Thanksgiving. That is 66 days until you’re enjoying a homemade turkey, sipping on a dry red wine, and entertaining family around the dining room table! It might seem a little too soon to start thinking about the holiday season, but as the first day of fall approaches, we at Feige’s can’t contain our excitement for the autumn season!
But while this is probably one of our most focused and memorable dinners throughout the year, we want to shine light on the importance of more family dinners throughout the week, with Thanksgiving enthusiasm.
Today we are sharing some of the positive benefits of slowing down throughout the week and taking time to cook and enjoy your family around the dining room table, and here’s what we found:
Communication + Bonding:
Dining together as a family improves our social skills with one another and allows us a good time to communicate when life gets busy! It’s never too late in the day to sit down around the table and ask your significant other what kind of day he/she had at work or ask your kids about the best part of their day. It’s these conversations that bond us together and make us closer.
When the family eats together, we naturally feel a strong bond. We all live unique and different lives, but this time lets you really bond and learn from one another.
Healthier Together:
When you eat together, you are more likely to make healthier decisions when it comes to food! One of our team’s most functional ways to be healthy, while also saving time is setting aside some extra time on Sunday night to prep a few meals to make those days after work a little less exhaustive.
One of our favorite meals to prep is a quick stir-fry. All you have to do is wash and store all of your vegtables in containers, and then when you are ready to make it all you have to do is pour the vegtables in the pan, mix in the rice, and add sauce and seasoning.
But if meal prepping isn’t quite your thing, then chickpea pasta and organic marina sauce has also been a healthy favorite around here lately. We love to jazz up the marinara with fresh basil, onion, and red pepper flakes.
Save A Buck:
Those families who stay in and cook meals at home save about $40 a week, per person! It may seem like a drag, especially on days when you’re exhausted after work and the last thing you want to do is cook dinner. But, one way to get re-inspired to cook at home is by trying new recipes and cookbooks. And don’t forget to look at Pinterest for new, innovative ideas for quick and delicious meals.
For the Kids:
There are several studies that show that sitting down and having family dinners together allows you to build a better relationship with your children, resulting in your kids having higher academic performance and higher self-esteem.
Furniture is more than just a place where we can relax, It’s the space where memories are made, where we enjoy the presence of our family, and where we share meaningful conversations with the ones we love. So, no matter if it’s Thanksgiving or a Monday after work, it’s important to take the time to sit around a table and enjoy family.
