Spring Cleaning + Health Benefits

Spring is here!
The snow has finally melted, and we can start to enjoy the warm air, blooming flowers, and chirping birds. There’s something inspiring about the beginning of spring that makes you want to start anew after a long, cold winter.
One of the best ways to get a fresh start to the new season is by de-cluttering and re-organizing.
So, open the windows and let in the fresh air because we’re going to be doing some spring cleaning!
Nobody loves cleaning, but what if we told you that you could become less stressed, more productive, and get a better night’s sleep just by tidying up! When our living spaces are cluttered and messy, it is hard to focus, be productive, and stay efficient.

Re-organizing can feel extremely overwhelming, especially when you feel like you’re tackling an entire room at one time. To reduce this feeling that can make you feel distracted and want to stop cleaning all together, try to break it down and take on categories of the room. For example, if you’re working in your bedroom, start with your clothes, move to your desk, and then your bed. It will allow you to accomplish small goals and give you a sense of productivity before you move to the next task.
In this instance, when you start, begin by sifting through all of your clothes in your closet. Only keep what you wear and love, and purge the on-sale items you will never wear, outdated pieces, and any other items that you have been holding onto for no reason (if you haven’t worn it in a year, will you really wear it this year? Probably not.). Try folding your clothes, rather than hanging your items. By doing this, you will open up space in your closet. Investing in a good dresser will also help keep your clothes in the best condition and allow you to save a lot of closet space. By using these techniques, deciding what to wear and opening your closet will never be stressful and will help make for a smooth morning of getting ready.

Choosing a functional desk with plenty of table and drawer space is essential. Purge the old paperwork and ditch any office supplies you don’t use. Maximize the drawer space in your desk by using dividers to keep items separate and to maintain a tidy drawer. By investing your time de-cluttering and in a great desk, you will be more productive and work more efficiently, allowing yourself more relaxing time later in the day.

Just as organizing your closet and desk make for a stress-free day and increased productivity, de-cluttering and tidying up also makes for a better night’s sleep. You can settle into a comfortable bed, with fresh sheets and fluffed pillows, all of which will help you relax and feel less stressed, giving you the rest and energy you need for a busy and productive spring and summer ahead!
