Coronavirus: home improvement tips and tricks during a quarantine

Posted on May 18th, 2020 by Feiges.

As the world continues to fight against the novel coronavirus, increasing numbers of people are forced to stay at home. While televisual treats are abundant to stream, there’s only so much binge-watching we can handle before restlessness kicks in.

Thankfully, there are plenty of ways in which you can be productive and improve your home while under quarantine, and here are just a handful of ways in which you can get creative:

1) Switch your furniture around

Sometimes it’s easy to freshen up a room with some simple Feng Shui completely. It’s surprising how re-arranging your furniture so that your couch now faces the window (allowing you to soak up more natural light) or moving a bookshelf into a corner can completely change the vibe of the room. If you don’t want to go to the effort of moving heavy items, why not use our simple room planner to switch things around virtually? This way, you’ll be able to get an idea of how your room would look without having to physically re-arrange your furniture.

2) Fix your wall hangings

The items on our walls tend to become crooked over time. Whether your wall is adorned with photographs, artworks, or even a TV, you might be shocked at how merely straightening up these items can have a profound effect on the overall feel of your home. Alternatively, you might want to take down your artworks and photographs and re-arrange them or swap them for new furnishings and photos instead.

3) Evaluate your lights

Lighting is one of the most crucial design elements in the home. It’s amazing how a room can go from unwelcoming and stark to warm and cozy, by merely switching a few lightbulbs. In some cases, your lightbulbs might not even be the culprits – your lamp could simply need dirt or dust removing from it. Some light dusting could help you regain the sort of lighting ambiance you desire, so why not give it a try?

4) Replace worn or old furniture

If you’re spending more time at home during quarantine, you’ll likely notice little things around the house that you were once impervious to. If there’s a tired or worn piece of furniture that’s nagging away at your senses, perhaps it’s time to give things an update? Staying at home doesn’t mean that you can’t shop for furniture – it’s easy and convenient to do this online.

5) Give your walls a lick of paint

Most of us will have a paint can or two tucked away from the last time we undertook renovations. If you’ve noticed areas of your walls that look like they could do with a bit of a retouch, now’s the time to grab that brush!
